Timberlane Labradors is a hobby kennel located in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina. We recently built a home in Catawba county were we are raising our family. Along with loving the labrador, we also have a love for horses. We have three Tenessee Walking horses. We enjoy riding them around the house or sometimes taking to the mountains for a nice get-away.

We are currently showing and breeding all three AKC recognized colors of the Labrador Retriever. We recently joined the Labrador Retriever Club of the Piedmont, which is a group of highly dedicated individuals sharing the love and concern for the breed. The LRCP is involved in AKC sanctioned conformation shows, hunt tests, and AKC sanctioned obedience tests.

Our kennel is located on five acres of land which allows lots of room energetic labs! In the back portion of the land we are blessed to have a large pond that is surrounded by a few miles of walking trails. The kennel where the dogs are kept is kept air conditioned in the summer and warmed in the winter. We are continuing to work on the kennel and updating making conditions better all the time for the dogs.

OUR HISTORY

Timberlane Labradors began in 1993 as a small hobby kennel in Vermont. I, Joy, am a veterinary technician and fell in love with the Labrador believing they are truly one of the best all around breeds for families, companionship, and hunting. We purchased our first Labrador, a chocolate male, in the fall of 1993.

Timberlane Labradors began looking into English pedigrees and spending hours on the phone with various breeders around the country. These breeders have worked 25-30 years on their breeding programs and were hesitant to sell a ‘new comer’ a show prospect, but I took the opportunity to ask questions and form the future for our breeding program.

The first English Labrador was a beautiful yellow male acquired from Ridgeview Labradors. Ted White, Stoneway Labradors, was kind enough to sell me my first show bitch, Stoneway Master Blue. She and I entered the show ring against professional handlers just for fun. “Khayman” and I won over some of those handlers and after that first season I was hooked on showing.

In the following years I began to learn from the best, Dot Galvin; Henningsmill Labradors, Pam Leslie; Hillside Labradors, Sally Kelley; Kelleygreen Labradors and Jean-Louis Blais; Chablais Labradors. We have structured our breeding program to produce the English type, temperament and health which was our original goal and dream.

A lot of hard work, sweat, and tears have gone into our Labradors.....but it is all worth it!!!
